We're delighted to announce the arrival of 2 select, hand-built models from Duncan Wales, Organic Guitars, Cambridgeshire.

6 months in the making, the first 2 Organics (Standard and Custom models) are available in-store at UKguitars (please call ahead if you wish to receive a full demonstration).

These exquisite guitars (two pictured are the models actually instore) are manufactured from a single piece of paduak wood. Matched with a sensational piece of Macassar Ebony on the fingerboard, the guitars hold sensational tones developed through 2 Seymour Duncan pickups and thru-body strings.

Pictures simply do not do these guitars justice and with a price tag of £1599, the guitars are something to marvel.

HANDCRAFTED

All Organic guitars are lovingly handcrafted by Duncan . Trained at “The Totnes School of Guitar Making”, Duncan combines his engineering background with traditional luthier's skills.The Organic Custom is entirely handcrafted, from start to finish, using no automated processes. Custom options are almost limitless, as all Organic Customs are made specifically to order.The Standard and Classic are initially roughed out on a CNC machine, before being completed by hand. This greatly reduces construction time and ensures accuracy.

THE WOOD

Every piece of tonewood that goes into an Organic guitar is personally selected by Duncan for its aesthetics, strength, stability and tonal properties. The 5A figured maple tops and headstock veneers are of the highest quality, and are precisely bookmatched. All necks are quarter sawn, and, as with the bodies, are made from one piece of timber. The fingerboards are of the highest quality Macassar ebony, which is beautifully striped. Body, neck and control cover woods are all matched to ensure grain and colour continuation. The tonal characteristics of the woods produce rich warm tones, and clear defined highs. Their strength and stability deliver superb response and sustain.

THE FINISH

Organic guitars have beautiful natural oil and wax finishes. The tactile beauty of the wood is not buried under layers of lacquer. Instead the natural beauty of the grain is unfilled and exposed. The result is a warm smooth organic texture. Each Organic guitar goes through multiple stages of sanding and polishing (to 12000 grit), before receiving 6 coats of oil and 4 coats of finishing wax. Lacquers can smother the body's vibration and dampen its response, causing high-end loss and general "lifelessness". The Organic guitar's oil & wax finish seals the wood while still allowing for its great feel and excellent tone.

Another advantage is that, any minor blemishes can easily be polished out and the finish reapplied.

THE FEEL

Each organic guitar is precisely setup before leaving the workshop and has a fast low playing action. The Organic Standard, and Classic necks have a slim modern 'C' section with a 16” fingerboard radius. Every fret is hand fitted, dressed and polished to a mirror finish. The ends of each fret, and the fingerboard edges, are subtly rounded over and polished to produce a wonderfully tactile 'played in' feel.

The flowing shape, satin finish with exposed grain, recessed hardware and attention to detail in design and construction, all add up to a truly high quality organic feel.
